ENSEMBLES - 3 PLAYERS |
| Three
Friends A Percussion Trio by Steve Kastuck - Grade
3 |
$9.00 |
This
work features snare drum, two (2) toms, and a bass drum
( played horizontally with timpani sticks). The abundant
dynamic changes, the interactive passages comprised of rolls,
flams, quarter, eights, and sixteenth notes, and the articulate
8th and 16th note soloís makes this composition a real favorite.
The meter change alternates between 3 /4 and 2/4 .This musical
trio will also help develop musicianship and assist in the
development of the studentís ability of hearing what is
going on around them, and to better understand where and
how their parts contribute to the effectiveness of the performance.
Perfect for any concert program.
NOTE: This piece is listed in the PENNSYLVANIA Selected
Music List, the VIRGINIA VBODA Music Selection List, the
FLORIDA Music Selection List and is eligible for the RHODE
ISLAND Solo and Ensemble Festival. Listed in the Maryland Band Directors Association Music List 2006.

"Some
of my students performed THREE FRIENDS at the Solo and Ensemble
festival. They really enjoyed performing and rehearsing
it."
- Lois Hoffman, Music Director, Frederick County Middle
School |
"I
had three of my high school students perform THREE FRIENDS
as a show case of their talent at our spring concert and
at Solo and Ensemble festival. The students and audience
really liked the work and it helped create interest in a
percussion ensemble for next year. I am glad this piece
is included in the VBODA manual. It is a wonderful work,
especially for students who have never before performed
in a percussion ensemble."

| B-FORCE!
A snare drum trio by Steve Kastuck - Grade 5 |
$10.00 |
This
trio covers the full range of dynamics. Numerous timbre
changes are created when the players play with the snares
on and off, on the rim, stick on stick and on various areas
of the drum head. Accents and stickings are clearly indicated
throughout and this contributes to the musical phrasing
of each part. B-FORCE! challenges an area of the percussion
family often ignored in terms of musicality, taste, and
creativity. Performers will find it challenging yet rewarding
Since it requires advanced rhythmic precision accuracy!
NOTE: This piece is listed in the FLORIDA Music Selection List, NORTH DAKOTA
Selected Music List, the PENNSYLVANIA Selected Music
List, the VIRGINIA VBODA Music Selection List and is eligible
for the RHODE ISLAND Solo and Ensemble Festival. |

"B-Force!"
is a snare drum trio dedicated to Presidents George W.
Bush and George Bush and Governor Jeb Bush. An informative
"Key" clearly explains all the playing details
found in the composition, such as playing areas on the
head and special effects. Unison playing, imitation, ostinato
patterns and excellent dynamic contrast can be found throughout
the work.
The piece is relatively brief: two minutes, ten seconds,
however it contains a wealth of snare drum sound possibilities.
It is challenging and must be performed with rhythmic
precision to accomplish the composers intent."

"Dear Mr. Kastuck, I am 16 years old, and I am performing B-Force in a regional drumming competition this weekend. First of all I would like to say that it's a well written piece, and has been a fun and challenging piece to learn. I also wanted to know if there was any audio, or preferably video on the internet that you could point me to. I think it would be interesting, and a good learning experience to see it being played by somebody else. Please let me know if you can help me out. Thanks."
